Our client is a Ukrainian branch of "METRO Cash & Carry" (Makro in some countries).
It is an international wholesale chain, owned by Metro AG, which operates membership-only warehouse clubs across Europe, China, India, Japan, and Pakistan.

We have got a request for the development of an Android and iOS app, including the creation of a UI/UX design (according to modern Google and Apple standards).
The problem
The main issue that the old version of the application did not work well. For instance, the user was not able the to use correct loyalty card in the app. Also, the client was not able to provide the Onix team with access to the source code of the old applicwhichn, that was cross-platform.
The solution
Onix team has process technical documentation provided by the client and suggested several improvements. The team has developed two native apps (iOS and Android) using Swift and Kotlin programming languages, accordingly.
The united team of experts (Onix and Metro CC) has done the UI/UX testing of the interface of the application.
The company initiated the project as part of their long-term strategy to digitize the current offline customer processes.
Namely, they are striving to make shopping more convenient for customers. METRO C&C envisioned a branded mobile application that would:
- Facilitate the physical process of shopping at METRO stores
- Facilitate the work of the chain’s marketing departments
- Pave the way for eventual online

- Electronic METRO customer card - to earn & spend loyalty bonuses
- Barcode scanner - to quickly see the current price of a good
- Promos - users see all METRO promos in the app
- Shopping List - to create and share the shopping list
- METRO stores - map & stores working hours
- METRO loyalty program - for B2B customers (direct discounts & vouchers)
