Due to the decentralization and small size of the country, it is difficult to compare the cost of living amongst different cities before one moves within the country or when immigrating into it. 

People would have to check local tax calculators of different cantons, calculate their health insurance premium, and check other factors in many different places on the web for every place they consider moving to. It is already a burden for locals but especially complicated for people who are not familiar with the whole system. Therefore, our client reached out Onix to create a web app that focuses on these potential users to provide them with detailed cost figures before they move. 

We were requested to build a digital platform that offers unbiased and objective information about the Swiss taxation and insurance systems. Whether users are planning to move to Switzerland, living there, or are simply curious, this calculator has it all covered.

The website is committed to providing their users with the most comprehensive and accurate information possible. The client recognizes that navigating through Swiss taxation and insurance policies can be overwhelming, which is why the platform idea appeared.

Features

1. Data collection

We added data collection functionality which includes gathering user’s financial and personal details. The calculator involves such data as tax rates, health insurance rates, electricity prices, and average rent prices in particular places of residence.

2. Internal calculation mechanisms

We created complex algorithms to calculate the costs associated with the different factors being compared. This involved developing an intuitive formula to adjust for factors such as inflation, taxes, and other expenses.

3. User interface design

Creating a clean, user-friendly interface is key to making the platform intuitive and easy to use. We designed user forms with easy readability and with well thought-out drop-downs to capture estimates of underlying input variables.

4. Cross-referencing and validation

We added cross-referencing with user data to ensure the information provided is accurate while ensuring appropriate input consistency to validate the accuracy of data.
