slider-arrow

In this project, we developed a concept that demonstrates how augmented reality can enhance the viewing experience of NASCAR races. By using the Apple Vision Pro headset, users can watch a race in a traditional format through a TV screen or in a virtual screen within the headset. This application overlays real-time, dynamically updated information onto the video feed, making the race more interactive and immersive.

Project Overview

The goal of this project was to create an AR-powered experience that enriches how viewers engage with NASCAR events. The application simulates additional data for the race, including:

  • A 3D virtual representation of the race track.
  • Virtual cars moving along the track, synchronized with real-world car positions.
  • A live display of car stats, such as lap count, lap times, gap to the leader, and current standings.
  • A dedicated panel showcasing detailed information about the selected driver, including car details, current championship position, photos, and a brief profile.

Solution

Built using Apple Vision Pro, Unity, and PolySpatial, this application was designed as a proof of concept to demonstrate the potential of AR in the future of sports broadcasting. The data is pre-generated and randomized, simulating real-time race updates. We believe this is a glimpse into how sports events could be presented in the near future, providing viewers with a richer, more engaging experience.
